Requirements for Secondary Education with a Physics Specialization

(resulting in a double major in Physics and Education)


Physics:   Complete a BA in Physics

Education:   Complete a BA in Education

  • In the first 3 semesters:

    • EDC102 Introduction to American Education (3)
    • PSY113 General Psychology (3)
    • EDC250 Supervised Preprofessional Field Experience (1)
  • By Feb. 1 of sophomore year:

    • Prepare a portfolio
    • Arrange interview with Physical Science Advisor in Dept. of Ed. (Prof. W. Croasdale as of 3/04)
  • To gain acceptance into the Secondary Ed program:

    • Apply during the spring semester in which you obtain 42 credits
    • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
    • Minimum GPA in physics of 2.5
    • Portfolio submitted
    • Interview with Education Dept.

A total of 126 credits is required for graduation.
