URI Graduate Program in Physics

The department offers programs of study leading to the degrees of Master of Science (thesis and non-thesis) and Doctor of Philosophy. There is considerable flexibility in the selection of courses, including those from related disciplines, which permits highly individualized programs of study. Thesis research can be carried out in any area in which a student and a faculty member find a common interest, although, as may be seen from the list , the bulk of present research efforts at the doctoral level are centered in the broad area of condensed matter physics.

The deadline for International applicants is February 1st for September admission, and July 15th for January admission. For domestic students, the deadlines are July 15th for fall and November 15th for spring. However, to receive full consideration for assistantships and other financial aid, applications must be received before February 1.
