Basic "naked eye" Observations

There are many different types of astronomical objects in the sky. We can distinguish them by their brightness, their motions, their shapes, and by other more subtle characteristics. The most obvious objects are: the sun, the moon, the planets, moons of other planets, stars, comets, and meteors or shooting stars. Some facts about the appearances and motions of these follow.
