• Largest and most massive of the planets.

• Has more than a dozen known satellites; 4 of which are of the order of the size of the earth's moon, and are easily seen using a small telescope.

• Source of strong radio signals, indicating presence of strong magnetic field.

• Has clouds bands easily observable for many years, but still a mystery.

• Atmosphere made up of hydrogen, helium, ammonia, and methane.

• Chances of life on this and other planets further out are slim.
