The gravitational deflection of starlight

If gravity affects light as it affects everything else, the sun will bend light coming toward us from stars behind it. This will make them appear further from the position of the sun then they do when viewed without the sun intervening. The effect was confirmed during a solar eclipse of 1919; this confirmation is what made the general public aware of Einstein.
