• L. D Landau, and E.M.Lifshitz, STATISTICAL PHYSICS - Part 1, [Landau & Lifshitz, v. V] , (any edition after 1990 in any language)

• N. W. Ashcroft, and N. D. Mermin, SOLID STATE PHYSICS (any edition in any language)

GRADING:

Homework 50% (due in 10 days after it is assigned), Midterms 20%, Final project 30%

EXAMS (No make-up exams will be offered):

Midterm exam 1: Tuesday, February 26

Midterm exam 2: Thursday, March 27

Final Project (due on Tuesday, 04/29/08)
