The setting for Cornell's main
campus combines the pastoral landscape of a rural area with the
cultural offerings of a larger urban environment. Situated on a
hilltop overlooking the city of
Ithaca and Cayuga Lake, in the
Finger Lakes region of New York State, the beautiful 745-acre campus
includes about 260 major buildings interspersed with gardens,
wood lands, gorges, and waterfalls.
Participants traveling by air are encouraged to use the Tompkins
County Airport (Ithaca). Ithaca is served by USAir and Continental,
with service from all major airports.
Shuttle service is available from the Syracuse airport to Ithaca; ask your
travel agent for details, or call Airline Limousine Service at
1-607-273-3030. Taxis and vans are available at the Ithaca airport for
transportation to and from campus. Parking is available on campus,
located approximately a quarter of a mile from the dorms. Parking
permits will be issued at registration for a small fee.
